While reviewing the Wizard Rings, Shunpei noticed there’s a red Ring that’s different from the rest. Haruto said that it’s a dud Ring. And suddenly a white Garuda PlaMonster appears, and sends them a magic stone that reacts with the dud Ring. At the same time, Medusa just found the newest Gate, a kid!!!
The scene where they tried to catch Garuda is really entertaining to watch. Even the normal Garuda takes part in the catching! The appearance of a white Garuda could only mean one thing, the White Wizard who helped Haruto, or I would rather call him Kamen Rider Gandalf (), is still around, acting pretty much like Shroud from Kamen Rider W.
As Haruto, Shunpei and Rinko takes a walk to hunt some Phantom, Garuda alerts them to a Phantom attack. Although it’s just Ghouls, the fight is really amazing. Honestly Wizard is the type of Rider who works well when handling multiple opponents. I love it when he used the wall to his advantage, making it seemed like he uses parkour in his fighting style. Kamen Rider Wizard is truly a Prince of Persiaor Assassin’s Creed-type Rider.
Because the Gate this time is a kid, it would only be natural if the kid would do something stupid. In this case, he ran away from his parents because they’re busy with their work that they don’t have time to bond with him. I understand what this kid feels. Speaking of family, this kid’s mother is related to Haruto. It’s surprising that Haruto knows this kid’s mom. Also, the part where Rinko is captured by a policeman is reminiscent of episode 1, where she catches Haruto, only this time it’s Rinko. Even they recreated the part where Koyomi talks about Rinko getting captured!
It is then they revealed Haruto’s backstory. When he’s a kid, his mom and dad died from a car crash, but not before telling Haruto that he’s their final hope. By looking at this scene we know why Haruto didn’t give up in despair during the ritual, because of his parents’ words encouraged him to have hope! Thank goodness they explain that, it’s just that it’s glad to see why Haruto didn’t give up even the ritual can break even the strongest of man. One more thing, I liked the fact that Haruto is the first main Rider to get a detailed backstory, since Kiva I think. You see, Decade’s is obviously out of question, and Shotaro’s past didn’t really seem to matter although they explored Phillip’s backstory, and Eiji suffered from lazy writing to explore his past, and finally Gentaro, we learned that his parents died in a car crash and that’s all. Wait, what?! Also, even when Haruto was little, he loves doughnuts.
As for the Phantoms, instead of calling another Phantom to do the job, Phoenix volunteers to drive the Gate to despair. Also the reason why Phoenix can’t do the job himself all this time is because he’s wild, and he would attack anything, to the point that he might have accidentally killed a Gate.
Because of this, Phoenix asks for permission from the Wiseman. First look on the Wiseman, he’s the big bad guy who lays on the bed and let the others do the dirty work form him, although their work is just monitoring the lesser Phantom’s activities. By looking at Wiseman’s silhouette, I assumed that he’s a middle-aged man, kinda like Dr.Maki. So maybe the speculation of Kizaki being the big bad guy is wrong.
Wiseman allows Phoenix to take action, but on the former’s way. Back at Haruto, the kid finally admit that he thinks his parents didn’t care for him. But, as all parents are, Haruto tells him that there’s no parent that didn’t care for their children. Proof of that is the kid’s mom keeps sending text messages to Haruto. Haruto assures him that he better tell his mother tomorrow, why they made him angry.
As they were about to stay in the kid’s house the next day, Phoenix appears holding the unconscious mother, hoping to bring the kid into despair. Haruto transforms into Wizard, unaware that Phoenix is a no joke when it comes to toughness.
The fight with Phoenix is so AWESOME because it shows how powerful Phoenix is, and how he keeps overwhelming Haruto. I loved that he used the finisher two times using Flame and Water Styles but it won’t work because Phoenix holds hellfire. And furthermore when he used Land Style, he keeps spamming the Defend Ring but Phoenix just slashed them all.
Also, I liked the fact that Phoenix has a weapon, which if Tamashii made his SH Figuart (which is most likely an exclusive), it would justify the price, unlike the Greeeds. Also the fact that he has a weapon also surprises me, because I thought Phoenix is the guy who would berserk around using his bare hands. And speaking of berserk, his fight with Wizard didn’t really show that, perhaps due to him just toying Wizard around.
Overall, this is the episode that you can’t miss. You can’t miss this. It has all that is important to the plot, characters, etc. I liked that they were able to pull Haruto’s past, not just revealed a little and call it a day, like they did with OOO. Phoenix, who in the past episodes looks like a dumbass finally proved that he’s a killing machine. Although we know that his ass are gonna be kicked back in the next episode.
