Toei, F**K you. I love Go-Busters. If I don’t, I wouldn’t review it in the first place! Now starting this episode Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters will feature a new opening, which is judging by Kamen Rider Hibiki‘s fate, is going to have a change. Apparently Toei said that the Go-Busters is too dark and the ratings aren’t impressive. While this is true, Go-Busters is actually pretty good. Honestly this reminds me of Ultraman Nexus, where the show is good but suffered poor criticism and the creators deemed it the worst.
Anyways, I originally hated the opening, but after hearing it 4-5 times, I’m growing to it. I really loved the scene where they put the camera is on the weapons’ perspective (Except Masato, whose camera is on a Buglar or his fist, I don’t remember). But the opening seemed to suffer from reused footage/footage that’s been seen in the series, something that’s only occurred in Power Rangers. Usually the Japanese Tokusatsu would feature exclusive footage just for its openings.
Moving on to the actual episode, Hiromu’s sister Rika won an award, so Hiromu and Nick went to visit her. Also, this episode finally reveals why Hiromu is so afraid of chickens!!!
At the same time, Enter creates SprayRoid 2, while Escape questions to him why Messiah is acting strangely. It appears that the upgrading process that was interrupted in the previous episode is actually working. Messiah is evolving, although not completely. As for Escape, she only makes a cameo in this episode, she didn’t really do anything other than threatening Enter.
As the Core Busters attacks SprayRoid, his abilities are shown: He’s different than the original one because this one can use its spray to change the appearance of anything! When he used it on the Core Busters, RedBuster turns into Yoko, YellowBuster and Nick turns into Hiromu, and BlueBuster turns into Enter!
Now this scene is so amazing, particularly on the actors. They did a good job mimicking the other cast members. I really loved Syo Jinnai (Enter) and Katsuhiro Suzuki (Hiromu)’s performance as Ryuji and Yoko, respectively. It’s really funny when Hiromu(Yoko) hits Enter(Ryuji), thinking that the latter is the enemy.
But, the scene gets more AWESOME with the arrival of J.Stag!!!! Because J.Stag is J.Stag, Kuroki tells him that he will easily get confused and just attacks everyone, which he did! He throwed Yoko(Hiromu) into a fountain, and its effect wear off. Truly, J.Stag is a genius. No wonder why he said that he’s just like Masato.
Meanwhile, Rika who encountered Hiromu(Nick) gets attacked by the retreating SprayRoid, and the SprayRoid disguises himself as Rika! This is because Enter also ordered SprayRoid to find out Hiromu’s weakpoint, since the former knew he would freeze if he sees something but doesn’t know exactly what it is.
An unaware Hiromu(Nick) tells Rika(SprayRoid) not to worry because Hiromu wouldn’t encounter a chicken. Knowing this, Rika(SprayRoid) attacks Hiromu and reveals that he is SprayRoid and now he knows that Hiromu’s weakness is a chicken……….
But unexpectedly Nick laughed at him, acting that he lied to SprayRoid about Hiromu’s fear of chickens. Seriously that move was unexpected an kudos Nick for doing such a great thing! Although the SprayRoid is half-sure about Hiromu’s fear though.
While waiting for Rika to recover at a hospital, Nick is worried sick about Hiromu’s weakpoint being revealed. As Masato assures him that he did a good job on the acting, Yoko asks on why did Hiromu developed a fear of chickens. It is then Nick tells them the truth.
The truth was something that is really hilarious and at the same time, I felt sorry for Hiromu! When he was little, Hiromu got trapped in the chicken coop and he really needs to go to the bathroom, and then an angry chicken attacks him, and you don’t wanna know what happened next! When Hiromu came, I really loved how Masato and Ryuji showed their sympathy to him, even though Hiromu was unaware of why would they give him sympathy.
One thing to point out that Hiromu’s fear is somewhat similar to Doraemon’s fear. Both feared silly, harmless creatures (Doraemon feared mouse), and both gets their fear because of something ugly happened to them (Doraemon gets his fear of mouse when a mouse bites his ear, if I remember correctly). It’s just something that I thought.
When they faced SprayRoid again, Hiromu is the one that didn’t transform. While this had caused SprayRoid to believe that Hiromu is not afraid of chickens, he quickly found out that the Hiromu in front of him is Nick, and the real Hiromu is hiding. Now completely sured that Hiromu is afraid of chickens, he showed the real Hiromu a picture of chicken!!…… only to find out that he’s been fooled all along. In actuality, the real Hiromu closed his eyes when the SprayRoid shows the picture, hence why the real Hiromu wore sunglasses, to cover up his tactics. With that, they managed to destroy SprayRoid 2.
As for the MegaZord fights, it’s amazing on how the SprayZord disguised as a building to fool Buster Hercules. It is then Kuroki ordered Morishita to locate the disguised SprayZord location using a map. It was a really cool concept.
With that, Rika’s sister is safe and well, and she showed Hiromu a picture of a black dog and a white dog, saying that it is an illustration of Gog and Magog. This greatly worries Hiromu and Nick, as the names belong to Escape’s guns. Rika said that the dogs are their mother’s favorite statue, which has triggered a speculation of Escape being related to Hiromu and Rika’s mother. Could this mean that Escape is an avatar based on Hiromu’s mom when she was young?
On the other hand, Masato arrived with bad news. His supply of Enetron has been stolen, and used by Messiah. He warns them that something is happening, and it’s very sooner than you think. Kuroki tells him that it is time to tell the truth. At the Hyperspace, Enter watches in joy over the evolving Messiah. Looks like the series is near to its end…….
Overall, a really, truly, amazingly, great episode. The comedy aspects blends well, and they didn’t make it look silly. I’m glad that they’re finally telling why Hiromu is so scared of chickens, and the ending really makes up the entire episode, foreshadowing the next events. If this is what we can expect from the ‘new’ Go-Busters, than I’m glad.
